Top Five Kid Friendly Songs For Adults

Here are Miss Cassie’s top five kid friendly songs that adults can love too!

I know what you’re thinking, ‘Please, not the ‘shark’ song again!”

Don’t worry, I’m totally with you.

The ‘shark’ song has its place, but today, let me take you away from your regular children’s songs, and show you a Whole New World (Any Disney fans here?)

These 5 songs are from my own playlist which I use in my music therapy practice, as well as MELPs when I run them from time to time. They’re a great way to get up and have a boogie with your little one, or for you to use on your way to work or the shops.

The great thing about these songs is that some have featured in recent kids films like ‘Sing’ and ‘Trolls’, the others are just up-tempo bops that hopefully put a smile on your dial!

1. September- Earth, Wind and Fire (Featured in ‘Trolls’)

There’s just something about that disco feel with the trumpets that makes me want to groove. Show your little ones your best dance moves and they’ll love dancing with you. ‘Ba di ah, say do you remember..’

2. I’m Still Standing- Elton John (Also in the movie ‘Sing’)

Whilst we have faced challenges this year with COVID-19, lockdowns and working from home with children, this song is a great anthem to keep on going. ‘I’m still standing, yeah, yeah, yeah!’. Air guitar solos are always welcome.

3. I’m Walking on Sunshine- Katrina and the Waves (Covered by popular Disney duo Aly and AJ)

Oooh! That drum beat intro is just iconic. Show off your best twist dance moves and give yourself to sing at the top of your lungs, “I’m walking on sunshine, woah! And don’t it feel good!’

4. Happy- Pharrel Williams (Featured in ‘Despicable Me 2’)

For those who are craving something a bit funkier, meet Pharrel! He’s got some groovy tracks, and this is just one of them. You can’t help but clap along to this tune!

5. Better when I’m Dancing- (Featured in ‘The Peanuts Movie’)

A beautiful, thoughtful song about moving your body and having a great time dance. Everyone can dance, and this song is a nice reminder that we can move however we like. The chorus is super catchy too. You’re welcome.

Hopefully you enjoy these tunes! Happy dancing and grooving.
