At Music Beat Australia, we are committed to delivering lessons that are fun, interactive, and child-centred.
We tailor our teaching approach to suit each child’s individual learning style. This may include adjusting lesson materials, teaching methods, or even changing teachers where appropriate.
We will always communicate with you throughout this process to ensure you feel informed and supported.
Learning an instrument is enjoyable, but it also takes time, patience, and consistency.
Children need time to become comfortable with their instrument and teacher. For this reason, lessons are offered in full-term blocks only, similar to other skill-based activities such as swimming lessons.
Regular attendance is essential for building confidence, developing skills, and fostering a genuine interest in music.
It is normal for students not to feel enthusiastic after every lesson, particularly in the early stages when learning can feel challenging. If you have any concerns, we encourage you to speak with us—we are here to support you and your child.
Progress in music learning requires regular practice at home.
For younger students, much of the practice approach is introduced during lessons, and guidance will be provided to parents/carers either verbally or through notes.
Home practice should be short, consistent, and enjoyable, with supervision and encouragement from parents/carers.
Older students are expected to practice more frequently and with greater focus to achieve the best outcomes.
For students enrolled in shorter lesson durations, home practice is especially important, as lesson time will focus more on revision and new material rather than extended practice.
Please note that a lack of regular home practice may significantly impact progress and confidence.
It is the responsibility of the parent/carer or after-school care provider to ensure that the student:
If a teacher is absent due to illness or emergency, we will offer a make-up lesson within the same term.
If a make-up lesson cannot be arranged, one lesson fee will be credited to your next term account.
We are unable to guarantee make-up lessons if a student is absent for any reason.
In special circumstances, we will do our best to offer a make-up lesson within the same term; however, this is not guaranteed.
No refunds or credits are provided for missed lessons.
If a student wishes to change instruments, this will be arranged at the end of the current term, in line with our term-based enrolment policy.
Music Beat Australia will supply required music books and learning materials.
These materials will be invoiced separately and are not included in lesson fees.
To support continuity in learning, we automatically reserve places for current students for the following term.
If you do not wish to continue, written notice must be provided to: [email protected]
If we do not receive notice, your place will remain reserved and payment obligations will apply in accordance with these terms.
Students are strongly encouraged to participate in our End of Year Concerts, typically held in November or December.
These concerts provide:
Family and friends are welcome to attend.
A small fee may apply to cover venue hire and insurance. You will receive full cost details prior to committing.
Music Beat Lessons & Tuition is aligned with the Australian Music Examination Board (AMEB).
Participation in exams is optional and at the discretion of the student and their family.
If you choose to proceed:
Once payment is made, your booking is confirmed for the full term, and your place is secured.
Full payment is required at least 48 hours prior to the first lesson.
If payment is not received, your place may be offered to another student on the waitlist. We will attempt to contact you via phone and email before releasing your spot.
Fees are non-refundable, except in exceptional circumstances (e.g. hospitalisation or extended illness), at the discretion of Music Beat Australia.
Refunds are not provided for:
All costs will be clearly communicated before commitment.
While Music Beat Australia takes all reasonable care, participation in lessons is at your own risk.
Music Beat Australia is not responsible for personal injury or loss sustained during sessions, except where required by law.
Parents/carers remain responsible for the safety and supervision of their children.
Students must not attend lessons if they are unwell, including with communicable or contagious illnesses.
No refunds or credits will be provided for lessons missed due to illness.
All shared instruments are cleaned regularly, including being wiped with anti-bacterial products between sessions.
All staff follow strict hygiene practices, including:
All other Music Beat Australia Terms & Conditions apply.
We are committed to music lessons being fun, interactive and child-centered. We work to match the teaching techniques and the teacher to each child’s learning style. Sometimes this may require us to change their lesson books, or even their teacher. We will always work with you on this to make sure you are informed and supported in this process.
EXPECTATION Learning an instrument and musical literacy is fun and it TAKES TIME.
Children need time to attain a grasp on the instrument they are learning, and to settle in with their teacher. This is why we do not offer a service less than one term block (a full term), exactly the same as swimming lessons. Without consistency your child won’t gain any confidence, nor have their curiosity in the instrument piqued after some “wins”.
Don’t expect great enthusiasm or joy after every single lesson. Sometimes, we work hard and early lessons can be a bit daunting. Come and talk to us if you have concerns but we think your child will settle in well.
PRACTICE Learning an instrument requires practice.
For younger students, most practice technique is covered in class and we will brief you on this process at the close of each lesson, or send home notes. Home practice can be short and should be fun. We will help the children develop effective practice techniques, but supervised home support is vital.
Older children are required to practice more often and with purpose to see the best learning outcomes.
Please note if you have signed up for the shorter lessons it is even more imperative that practice occurs at home between lessons as we won’t have as much time in lessons to do practice. Rather the lesson time needs to focus on revision and learning new material and techniques.
Progress (and more importantly, their pride of progress) will be hampered if children are not supported to practice at home with regular (scheduled) practice times.
Terms of Service:
It is the responsibility of the parent/carer or after school care staff to ensure your child arrives on time for their lesson, with their instrument and book and is escorted either to school, home or back to care after the lesson.
If a teacher is absent due to illness or emergency, the lesson we will offer a make-up lesson within the term. If this fails, one lesson fee will be credited to your next term account.
Please note we are not able to offer make up sessions if a student is absent for any reason. In special circumstances, we will do our best to find a make-up lesson time within the term, however, there is no guarantee.
If a student wishes to change instrument, we adhere to our term block policy and if the desire is still in play at the end of the term we will make arrangements to accommodate the change.
We will supply the music books for your child and invoice you for payment. The cost of materials is in addition to lesson fees*.
As a courtesy to our busy families, and to support the long term learning goals of your child, we hold spots for current students for the next term unless we are notified in writing of the intent to discontinue to [email protected]. If we do not hear from you please note Terms of Payment below for this situation.
