Did you know Boppin’ Babies also provides excellent music therapy services in addition to boppin’?
Earlier this week Miss Vicky travelled to Townsville on behalf of our music therapy arm Music Beat Therapy Services and worked with children at Hear and Say Townsville.
Hear and Say’s telepractice intensive camps offer the unique opportunity for regional families with hearing loss to come together for a week of learning, support and fun.
Miss Vicky joined ten families at a special “LEAP” (Little Explorers Auditory-Verbal Program) playgroup. She ran a fun and musical session to help the kids with their listening and spoken language, as well as to build their social skills through music.
Music provides a fun and engaging way for children to practice directional listening, following instructions and attend to complex tasks.
The kids joined Miss Vicky in singing and musical games that required the little ones to listen for different sounds with intent, and to follow auditory as well as visual cues in the songs.
Meanwhile our dedicated team of music therapists visited special schools around Brisbane, ran sessions at the Downs Syndrome Association of Queensland, as well supporting families with home visits.
