Music Beat Founder Dr Vicky Abad was in Seoul, South Korea from 11 to 15 October for the 2nd Music Therapy World Leaders Forum.
Dr Vicky recently went to South Korea for the Music Therapy 2018 World Music Therapy Association Presidential summit Meetings. She represented Australia in her capacity as the Australian Music Therapy Association President. She was one of 13 world leaders including Canada, New Zealand, the Netherlands, Greece, Malaysia, Hong Kong, Croatia, India, Brazil and of course South Korea.
Leaders shared ideas, thoughts and opinions, discussed the state of play for music therapy in their countries and planned research and clinical collaborations.
A full day conference attended by over 300 South Korean music therapists and students followed. These students got to hear the very latest in therapy practice from around the world.
It wasn’t all work for the music therapy leaders
They enjoyed traditional Korean music and K-Pop at the Seoul Arirang Festival 2018 at Gwanghwamun Square in the heart of the city.
They also enjoyed performances by masters of Korean traditional musical instruments including the gayageum at Cheongwadae Sarangchae.
Dr Vicky also got to check out some Korean instruments at the Deoksugung Palace Royal Guard-Changing Ceremony.
