Lucia Phelan

Registered Music Therapist

Team Leader for wellbeing and mental fitness

Lucia is a Registered Music Therapist, a Neurologic Music Therapist and Staff Mental Wellbeing and Fitness Team Leader at Music Beat Therapy Services.

Lucia graduated with a tertiary Music Therapy degree in 2007 in Germany and has experience working with individuals and groups in early intervention, disability, mental health, aged care, and neurorehabilitation.

She is passionate about supporting individuals and their families in a holistic, culturally sensitive, and creative way to find balance and increased wellbeing in their lives.

Lucia has gained working life experience beyond her music therapy studies. In the past, she worked as disability support carer and mental health therapy assistant in various community organisations, in Australia and overseas. Together with her life partner, she raises two girls. She also opened her own Family Day Care whilst slowly extending her own music therapy business. This allowed her to spend more time with her own children during the important early years whilst supporting families, continuing to develop her professional skills, and – most noteworthy, learning lots of new children’s songs and Australian music.

In 2019, she joined the Music Beat Australia team and since then, highly appreciates the opportunity to learn, connect and collaborate with other music therapists in an empowering therapy space.
